A Brief History of the NDG Art Hop

Montreal artist Michael Clague reached out to the NDG community in 2017 to ask artists to open their doors to visitors during two weekends in September. The first to respond was the NDG Community Council’s Community Organizer, Sharon Sweeney who was quick to recognize the importance of such an event and helped Michael develop it.  Thanks to his vision and initiative, the NDG Art Hop has grown in popularity and participation. Une brève histoire du circuit des arts de Notre Dame de Grace

En 2017, l’artiste montréalais, Michael Clague a tendu la main à la communauté Notre Dame de Grace pour demander aux artistes d'ouvrir leurs portes aux visiteurs pendant deux week-ends en septembre. La première à répondre fut l'organisatrice communautaire du Conseil communautaire NDG, Sharon Sweeney, qui a rapidement reconnu l'importance d'un tel événement et a aidé Michael à le développer. Grâce à sa vision et à son initiative, le NDG Art Hop a gagné en popularité et en participation. Merci M. Clague!

A NOTE ON COLLECTING ART

Art is a terrific investment as it rarely depreciates over time and you can enjoy it every day. But remember to buy wisely and purchase art that you can live with. Purchasing art from local artists helps support the artist and his or her community. Sometimes artists may be willing to negotiate the price of their work but keep in mind that creating art is not a commodity: it takes years of training, working, and experimenting to get to the body of works you may see in this tour. Also, some artists can offer commissioned works, so ask if this is something that interests you.

De plus, certains artistes peuvent proposer des œuvres commandées, alors demandez si c'est quelque chose qui vous intéresse.
